About

Who Are We?

The Northern Bowls Association (NBA) is based at Delancey Park in St Sampson’s parish, Guernsey, in the Channel Islands. It is our opinion that you will not find a better view for a bowls club, with a picturesque elevated location overseeing the harbour and neighbouring islands!

We welcome bowlers; of all ages, standards and abilities, and we are a friendly but competitive club. We are always seeking new bowlers to participate in our leagues, and welcoming you to try the sport.

Over the season (May-September) we run; Pairs, Triples and 2-4-2 leagues, as well as knockout tournaments in all disciplines. We also have informal “social bowling” events including Saturday morning open bowls where you can drop in and play – you just need flat shoes!

A Brief history

Delancey Park was given by Sir John Leale to St. Sampson’s Parish in 1932.

Shortly after, the Northern Bowling Association bowling green was opened in 1934 for the benefit of the workers of the Parish. The Northern Bowling Association was so called because it was an association of clubs and not just individuals.

No formal attire was ever set down, because the members used to come directly from work!

The club is a member of the Bowls Guernsey governing body, and through its affiliations many World and European champions have played at this picturesque club over the past decades.
